THOM BROWNE EYEWEAR
DITA Inc., and THOM BROWNE Inc., announced a license agreement for design, production and worldwide distribution of Thom Browne sun and ophthalmic collection for Fall 2011. The global success of the first ever license deal for both brands prompted the introduction of Thom Browne women’s eyewear along with new Thom Browne men’s designs slated to hit select stores worldwide as early as May 2012.
Thom Browne’s stylized take on iconic, feminine shapes consist of the TB-500 - round frame; TB-501 - oversized square; and, TB-502 - exaggerated cat eye. The women’s offering will preview at MIDO and VEE tradeshows in March 2012 along with new Thom Browne eyewear for men and DITA Eyewear.
Thom Browne women's eyewear designs are a tasteful yet unconventional throwback to the American sensibility of the 1940's, '50's and '60's. Dita cofounders Jeff Solorio and John Juniper worked closely with Thom Browne on design, development and formerly produced one-off concept eyewear for Thom's Paris and NY fashion shows, which instigated the license agreement last year.
Thom Browne women’s frames features custom four-stripe signature rivet hinge with and five-piece, tri-color temple tips and each will retail for $475.00 USD. Color options for all styles will be available in Black custom acetate with G15-AR coated lenses, Tokyo tortoise custom acetate with Blue-AR coated lens, and Navy-White custom acetate with dark grey AR coated lenses.
New eyewear for men by Thom Browne are comprised of three staple styles available in up to five color ways with AR coated lenses: TB-010 - injected plastic frame with leather side cups that features the signature Thom Browne four-stripe hinge detail, wraparound cable temples, removable leather bridge piece and unique five-piece, tri-color temple tips; TB-021 – a continuum of Thom Browne’s men’s aviator with a unique titanium rim wire front frame with custom bridge and hinge detailing, titanium nose pads and unique five-piece, tri-color temple tips; and, TB-014 – the all metal/titanium version of TB-006 features titanium ribbed temples, signature four-stripe detail spring hinge and unique five-piece, tri-color temple tips.
Each frame is handmade in Japan by DITA’s veteran craftsmen (some who have spent over half of a century perfecting their art) in the world’s leading factory.
