Dirk Schönberger - Creative Director adidas Sport Style Division Born in Cologne, Germany, music and fashion passionate Dirk Schönberger has always followed his vocation. As a graduate of the renowned fashion school ESMOD in Munich he took on his first job as Personal and Managing Assistant of menswear designer DIRK BIKKEMBERGS in Antwerp/Belgium and Italy. After 3 years he felt disposed to build up his own label: Dirk Schönberger men & women. In his nearly 10 years as an independent designer in Antwerp and Paris, Dirk has successfully built a recognition and reputation in the fashion industry before he decided to take off to a new challenge at JOOP! in Hamburg, Germany, in January 2007. He became Creative Director of the German fashion label overseeing the entire creative output of the label including product, advertising, PR and retail strategies. After leaving his unmistakable marks at JOOP!, Dirk moved to the international headquarters of the adidas AG in Herzogenaurach, starting as the new Creative Director of the Sport Style division in June 2010. His know-how and personal background in the fashion industry combined with adidas’ expertise in sport functionality, provided the perfect foundation to represent the various brands of the Sport Style division getting ready for exciting future accomplishments. In his function, Dirk defines a coherent visual language and ensures innovative and inspirational design for all Sport Style collections that include the labels adidas Originals, Y-3, SLVR, NEO and Porsche Design Sport. Dirk shares his professional experience and knowledge through dedicated sessions with students of the Royal College of Art in London as well as the University of Arts (Universität der Künste) in Berlin. Besides his passion for fashion and design, he is also a big music fan and was able to connect both worlds by designing outfits for Mick Jagger and Keith Richards for the Rolling Stones “40 Licks” world tour as well as for U2 lead singer Bono for their “Elevation” world tour.
